I don’t think you even begin to see the the beginning of all of this.. <3 :(
Hello! :)
This is my first tumblr post, so let’s see how this goes..
Sooo I watched this movie lastnight, called; “Prayers For Bobby”..
It was a moving, touching, and well-made movie. It begins with the typical “All American Family”, you can tell something is up with Bobby right away.. He confronts his brother about his mixed feelings, thinking this wont get out to the parents. Bobby’s parents are your stereotypical h-core Christians. Mom prays every morning, dad goes along with it, and so on. So the brother, tells mom about Bobby’s confused feelings.. (Homosexuality) And she immediately denies that she has a gay son. So a bunch of stuff happens, Bobby ends up moving to Pennsylvania with his cousin, and meets a boy.. David (the boy), is everything to Bobby. Bobby was a christian, he was born into it, he cant help it.. He feels God peering down on him, lagging on his heart for his ‘sin’.. After more conflict with mom and dad at home, and one heated argument at the dinner table, Bobby takes his car, parks on the interstate, then jumps off the interstate bridge into an 18 wheeler semi truck.. I’ve now been crying since the first kissing scene between Bobby and David, this made me howl. :| The rest of the movie is about the mom coming to the realization that she was the reason Bobby killed himself, emotionally.
This was based on a true story, and its so touching.. I love it.. But a few things they could’ve improved on were;
- Timing of conversation (dialect)
- Choice of conversation
- VOICE VOLUME!! Made it sound so unnatural!
I cant complain, I cant make a movie. ;)
This movie is powerfull, and it has a deep deep meaning. I reccomend this to and closeted homosexuall, or people struggling with anything to do with homosexuall thoughts and the bible…. Thanks for reading !
